The Itchy Sweater: Unraveling the Christian Anti-Transgender Argument is an answer to prayer and holy pondering. (Wearing an ugly, itchy sweater for a lifetime was how my daughter described being transgender before living as her true self.) There are many academic textbooks about transgender studies and beautiful memoirs, but there is no single book that traces the historical, social, political, scientific, and faith perspectives. Along with co-author C.D. Garske, we hope to write an accessible and persuasive book that will contribute to healing the harm done by the Christian Church to our transgender siblings.

We are both parents of LGBTQ+ children but we aren’t transgender; we believe our role is to stand in the gap between Christians and the transgender community, not to speak for transgender individuals. With C.D.’s incredible research skills and my storytelling, this book promises to be Good News!
