I will be sharing my experiences as a parent and LGBTQ+ advocate. We’ll discuss the current climate for transgender Texans, how the Episcopal Church embraces our transgender siblings, and why reconciliation is needed more than ever. Contact St. Stephen’s in Huntsville, Texas for more information.
Coral Gables member C. D. Garske and Texas LGBTQ+ advocate Molly Carnes will share their experiences as parents of LGBTQ+ children and the book they are co-authoring, The Itchy Sweater. With C.D. focused on research and Molly focused on storytelling, their book will attempt to dismantle the Christian anti-transgender argument. This forum will discuss some of the initial findings of their research, the current climate for transgender Americans, and why the Christian Church’s commitment to peace and justice is needed more than ever.
